Huskies Finish Seventh at Elon Invitational
BURLINGTON, N.C. – The UConn men's golf team tied for the second lowest team score during Tuesday's final round to climb the leaderboard to a seventh place finish in the 18 team field at the 2024 Elon Phoenix Invitational.
The Huskies fired a 277 on Tuesday's final 18-holes at the par 71, Alamance Country Club, pushing them up to seventh place with a three-round total of 864 (+12). The Huskies played two rounds on Monday, shooting 294 and 293.
UConn junior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) recorded his third top-20 finish in three events this season, finishing tied for 12th overall. Goode was -2 for the tournament, shooting 211 (71-73-67), including his lowest round of the season, a four-under 67 on Tuesday's final round. His 211 marks his lowest tournament score this season and he has now played five rounds at par or better.
Senior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, MA) was tied for 21st overall with a score of 214 (75-74-65). Dennehy also had his lowest round of the season with Tuesday's six-under 65 as he now has played three rounds this season at par or better.
Sophomore Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) tied for 43rd in the field, shooting 73 over all three rounds for a 219 final score, his lowest tournament of the early season. Senior Vikram Konanki (Newton, MA) was tied for 54th with a score of 221 (76-73-72) as did classmate Eric Boulger (Walpole, MA), playing as an individual), shooting 221 (74-73-74). Both had season-low tournament scores.
Rounding out the UConn contingent was freshman Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) in 83rd with a score of 227 (75-75-77).
The Huskies are right back in action next week, October 21 and 22 at the Xavier Invitational at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, OH.
