Huskies In Maui For Final Event of the Fall

The UConn men's golf team puts the fall portion of their schedule playing in the 2024 Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Maui this weekend.

The event returns Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course in Ka'anapali, Maui with the three-round, 54-hole tournament playing out November 2-4 on the par 71, 6,700 yard course.  The Huskies will feature in a field that includes host Hawai?i and Boise State, Colorado, CSUN, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, LSU, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, TCU, UC Irvine, and Wyoming.

The Huskies are coming off a third place finish at the Xavier Invitational last time out where junior Connor Goode (Glastonbury,  CT) continued his strong fall campaign.  Goode took fourth at the event, earning his best finish of the season and his second top-10 finish of the fall. Over four events, he owns a team low 71.5 scoring average with six rounds at par or better.

Goode will be joined in this week's lineup by senior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, MA), sophomore Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT), sophomore Alex Heard (Boca Raton, FL), back after missing two tournaments with injury, senior Eric Boulger (Walpole, MA) with freshman Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) playing as an individual.

Dennehy and Sawka are coming off top-10 performances as well.  Dennehy owns a 71.8 per round average after tying for seventh at Xavier.  He had his lowest round of the season (66) on his way to his second top-10 this fall.  Sawka had his best tournament of the fall, tying for 10th thanks to a 216 that featured his lowest round of the fall (66) as well.  Heard will be back in action for the first time since the UConn Invitational at the beginning of October.  Forced to withdraw in the third round with injury at that tournament, he missed the Elon and Xavier tournaments.

UConn finished 15th at last year's Ka'anapali Classic as they play in the tournament for the eighth time.

The Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational debuted in 2014 at the Ka'anapali Golf Courses in west Maui. The Royal Ka'anapali has served as host since the tournament's inception and has attracted the best in college golf as the schools wrap up their fall seasons.

Following this weekend's event the Huskies will be off until picking up in the spring semester with the BIG EAST Match Play event on February 3 and 4.
