Huskies Tied For Lead After Round One of UConn Invite

HAMPDEN, Mass. - Day one of the UConn Invitational wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with the Huskies tied with Rhode Island for the team lead after 18-holes at GreatHorse. UConn and URI both shot one-under 287 on Sunday, five strokes up on Fairfield in third and six-strokes in front of Boston College, Holy Cross and Villanova in fourth.  Play continues with round two on Monday morning.

On the individual leader board, URI's Tyler Bruneau is in the lead after a five-under 67 on the 7,093 yard course on Sunday.  Bruneau holds a one-stroke lead over UConn's Ray Dennehy (Princeton, Mass.) and Pyae Phyo Thu of Fairleigh Dickinson, who both shot 68.  Dennehy got off to a blazing start to his round, carding an eagle on hole one and five birdies for a 30 over the first nine holes.  

UConn's Connor Goode (Glastonbury, Conn.), the defending tournament champion, finds himself in tied for sixth on the leader board after shooting a two-under 70 with four birdies on Sunday.  Alex Heard (Boca Raton, Fla.) is tied for 23rd with a Sunday round of 74 and newcomer Matt Costello (Tuanton, Mass.) sits 36th after a 75.  Bradley Sawka (Ellington, Conn.) rounds out UConn's top-five in 50th after a 77.  

The Huskies got solid rounds from Vikram Konanki (Newton, Mass.) and Eric Boulger (Walpole, Mass.), playing as individuals, both shooting par 72 to sit tied for 12th.
