Huskies Kick-Off Spring Practice
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn football team under fourth-year head coach Jim Mora kicked-off their 2025 spring practices on Tuesday morning at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center for the first of 15 practices over the next two months. The Huskies are coming off one the most successful seasons in program history last fall, capped off with the team's first bowl victory since the 2009 campaign.
The Huskies begin work this spring with a host of new faces on the roster, with a combination of 27 new transfers and freshmen taking the field this spring. UConn is looking to build up last season's success where the Huskies posted a 9-4 record, just the fourth time in school history a team has posted nine or more wins. "We're excited to get back out here and get to work," stated Mora who met the media on Tuesday morning. "I think the players were anxious to do it, they worked really hard this winter. Obviously a lot of new faces and just see them out here working together was good. I thought it was a good start and a long ways to go but I think a lot of them are walking off the field here with a smile on their face."
"Getting guys accustomed to how we do things here. What the expectations and standards are, and what we are trying to build. Making sure guys assimilate into that. I think we did a great job of bringing in good people, which is very important. Obviously we want good players, but good players that are good people. That is what is going to help you be successful. The way we practice, the tempo, what we emphasis and getting guys familiar with each other, building that chemistry. There is so much to get done. I think we got a leg up, in terms of where we want to be. I was impressed today with how we came out and competed with some maturity."
The Huskies announced their 2025 schedule with six games slated for Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. The Huskies finished 6-1 at home last season, the team's most home wins since a perfect 6-0 home campaign in 210. UConn scored 258 points (36.9 ppg) at The Rent last season, the most in program history at East Hartford stadium.
New season tickets are available for the six-game home schedule, starting as low $99.
