UConn Signs 12 On NSD25
STORRS, Conn. - UConn head football coach Jim Mora announced the program has received athletic aid agreements from 12 incoming student-athletes on National Signing Day. The newest members of the program represent seven states.
Aubrey Melvin
Aubrey Melvin is a defensive line recruit from Brandywine, Maryland. He committed to UConn following his official visit to campus in June 2024, choosing the Huskies over offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, Kent State, Pittsburgh, Temple, Towson, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. During his senior season at Gwynn Park High School, Melvin recorded 60 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. For his efforts during his senior year, Melvin earned County Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Joe McGann
Joe McGann is an offensive line recruit originally from Lagrangeville, New York, playing for Arlington High School, who recently reclassified and enrolled at the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey during the 2024 offseason. McGann became the second offensive line commit for the Huskies, joining his high school teammate Hill Greenlee in the Huskies 2025 recruiting class. McGann officially committed to UConn in July 2024, when he chose the Huskies over Akron, Brown, Buffalo, Lehigh, Maine, Monmouth, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Yale, while also drawing interest from Rutgers and Syracuse. McGann earned First Team All New Jersey Prep A honors after his post graduate year at Hun School.
Charles Johnson
Charles Johnson is a linebacker recruit from King George, Virginia. Johnson committed to UConn following his official visit to campus in June 2024. He chose the Huskies over offers from schools including Delaware, East Caroline, Florida Atlantic, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. During his senior season at King George High School, Johnson recorded 107 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns.. For his efforts his senior year, Johnson earned First Team All-Region Linebacker honors.
Osiris Gilbert
Osiris Gilbert is a cornerback recruit from Duluth, Georgia. Following his official visit to campus in June 2024, Gilbert chose the Huskies over twenty other offers, from schools including Arizona State, Cincinnati, Delaware, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Liberty, Michigan State, South Florida, Syracuse, UCF, and others. In his junior year at Buford High School, he led the team to a record of 9-4, as he recorded 21 total tackles, two interceptions, two pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. For his senior season, Gilbert transferred to Peachtree Ridge High School, where he recorded 14 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 5 pass deflections.
Xavier Watson
Xavier Watson is a tight end recruit from Waverly, New York. He officially committed to UConn Football in June 2024, following his official visit in June. Watson chose the Huskies over ten other offers from schools including Air Force, Army, Maine, Navy, Temple, and several others. As a junior at Waverly High School, Watson played mostly wide receiver and cornerback. On offense, he recorded 62 receptions for 917 yards and 17 total touchdowns, where on defense he totaled 38 total tackles (20 solo), two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Named an All-State wide receiver and helped his team win their first ever New York State Championship.
K'saan Farrar
K'saan Farrar is a quarterback recruit from Virginia Beach, Virginia. He officially committed to UConn in May 2024, selecting the Huskies over teams including Buffalo, East Carolina, Charlotte, Marshall, and Liberty. In 2023, Farrar led his Green Run High School to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the Virginia Class 5 Region A finals. He threw for 3,086 yards and 36 touchdowns, to go along with 577 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. He has been named the top rating quarterback in the state of Virgina, according to 247Sports.
Saxton Suchanic
Saxton Suchanic is a cornerback recruit from York, Pennsylvania. He officially committed to UConn in June 2024, selecting the Huskies over Iowa State. Suchanic did not allow a touchdown in 2023. He recorded 31 tackles, and 11 passes defended. Suchanic is a three sport-athlete, competing in basketball and track & field at Central York High School. During his senior season, Suchanic helped lead his team to a playoff berth, where he recorded 32 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 pass deflection.
Lewenski Ydore
Lewenski Ydore is a linebacker recruit from Miami, Florida. He officially committed to UConn in June 2024 after his official visit, selecting the Huskies over Maryland, Marshall, Liberty, and FIU. During his senior season, Ydore helped lead North Miami High School to a playoff berth where he recorded 46 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery.
Nykobi Brown
Nykobi Brown is a defensive end recruit from Valdosta, Georgia who played at perennial powerhouse, Valdosta High School (GA). He officially committed to the Huskies in June 2024 over Arkansas State, FAU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, JMU, Kent State, Marshall, Troy, Western Kentucky, and Western Michigan, plus some FCS offers. Brown had 31 tackles, including 15 solo his senior season, and had 10 tackles for loss. Brown was named to the 1st Team All-7A Region team, along with nine of his teammates.
Makih Johnson
Makih Johnson is a wide receiver recruit from Tarpon Springs, Florida. Johnson officially committed to the Huskies in July 2024, choosing UConn over offers from 14 other offers from schools like Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, UMass, UCF, South Florida, Toledo and several others. During his senior season, Johnson helped lead Tarpon Springs High to a playoff berth, where he finished with 51 receptions for 1072 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Axavier Bridges-Brooks
Axavier Bridges-Brooks is a defensive back recruit from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Bridges-Brooks officially committed to UConn in June 2024, playing his high school career at Rock Creek Christian High School and more recently, Riverdale Baptist. Bridges-Brooks chose the Huskies over 15 other offers from schools like Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin and several others.
Hill Greenlee
Hill Greenlee is an offensive tackle from Dallas, Texas. Greenlee officially committed to UConn in June 2024. Greenlee reclassified and enrolled in the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey. Greenlee chose the Huskies over offers from the likes of Akron, Monmouth, San Diego, San Diego State, while also drawing interest from Boston College, North Carolina State and Rutgers. He earned First Team All-New Jersey Prep A honors after his post grad year at Hun School.
