Details Announced For 2024 First Night
STORRS, Conn. – UConn basketball is almost back and gets underway on October 18 with First Night presented by FOX Sports 97-9 Hartford and D.P. Dough. First Night will celebrate the men's and women's basketball teams at Gampel Pavilion ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
First Night will be a UConn student-focused, free event. Husky Athletic Fund donors and season ticket holders will be able to claim a selected number of tickets to the event. First Night will air locally on WFSB and will stream for free on UConn+ at UConnPlus.tv or on your TV via the Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV apps.
The event will kick off with a block party on Jim Calhoun Way. All are welcome to enjoy food trucks, carnival games, photobooths, a live DJ and more.
Players from both squads will be introduced as the Gampel faithful gets to meet the 2024-25 Huskies for the first time. The teams will compete in challenges including a coed 3-point shooting contest and a full-court, 5-on-5 scrimmage alternating between the women's and men's student-athletes. First Night will close with the Grand Finale Giveaway with thousands of prizes for fans in attendance.

TICKET CLAIM
Claims for UConn students will open on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 10 p.m. Season ticket holders and donors can begin claiming tickets on Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. A limited number of general public tickets are available to claim on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Students can claim tickets through the Tickets tab on the Top Dogs Student Rewards app or at UConnHuskies.com/students.
Season ticket holders can claim a ticket through their UConn Ticket Account (UConnHuskies.com/myaccount).
The general public can claim a limited number of free tickets at UConnHuskies.com/FirstNight.
Tickets for students, donors and season ticket holders are available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. Seating for the event is general admission.
ENTRANCES
UConn students who have claimed a mobile ticket can enter Gampel Pavilion through the East and North Entrances. Season ticket holders will enter through the South Entrance. No re-entry will be allowed.
BLOCK PARTY
Beginning at 5 p.m., the general public and UConn students are invited to gather outside Gampel Pavilion for a block party. The block party will feature food trucks, carnival games, photobooth, live DJ and more!
CONCESSIONS
Concession stands will be open during First Night. Alcohol sales will not be available.
PARKING
The North and South Garages will be available to pay to park. Surface lots (YZ, I-Lot East & I-Lot West, N) will be open three hours prior to the event, beginning at 4 p.m.
SUPPORT THE HUSKIES!
Before First Night begins, fans are encouraged to support volleyball as they take on Villanova at 3 p.m. in the UConn Volleyball Center. Tickets can be purchased at UConnTickets.com for general fans. Students can attend for free by showing their UConn ID at the entrance.

The Husky High Five award recognizes UConn student-athletes that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, growth, and improvement in their commitment to succeeding in the classroom, their sport, and/or in the area of service and leadership. - UConn's Castle Wins NBA Rookie of the YearNEW YORK – Former UConn men's basketball star Stephon Castle was named the NBA Rookie of the Year on Tuesday (April 29). Castle is the second Husky to earn the NBA's top rookie honor, joining 2005 winner Emeka Okafor.
- Huskies Add Mike Nardi To MBB Coaching StaffSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team and head coach Dan Hurley have announced the addition of Mike Nardi to the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Nardi comes to Storrs after a decade on the coaching staff at his alma mater Villanova, most recently serving as the program's interim head coach after seven years as an assistant.
- UConn Announces Home-and-Home With ArizonaSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has announced a home-and-home series with perennial power Arizona, set to begin on Nov. 19, 2025 in Connecticut. The Huskies will return the game on Nov. 18, 2026 in Tucson.
- Huskies Land Transfer Guard Malachi SmithSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has further bolstered its backcourt with the addition of high-impact transfer Malachi Smith. The 6'0 lead guard and Bronx, N.Y. native has signed an aid agreement to join the Huskies for the 2025-26 campaign after spending four seasons at Dayton. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
- Huskies Ink Top Transfer Silas Demary Jr.STORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has picked up a pledge from Silas Demary Jr., with the 6-5 guard signing an aid agreement on Thursday (April 3). Demary (pronounced dem-uh-ree) Jr. joins the Huskies after two seasons at Georgia, where he was a double-figure scorer and All-Freshman team selection. He will join Connecticut for the 2025-26 season with two years of eligibility remaining.
