UConn Announces 2024-25 Non-Conference Slate
STORRS – The back-to-back defending national champion UConn men's basketball has officially announced the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The 11-game non-league slate includes six home games in Connecticut and a slew of early season challenges.
Games against perennial powers including Baylor, Gonzaga and Texas dot the schedule, in addition to a loaded field at the 2024 Maui Invitational which features five teams in the consensus preseason polls. The aggressive non-conference scheduling is nothing new for the Huskies under Dan Hurley – last season UConn played in three top-10 games during non-league action.
Fans will get their first look at the 2024-25 Huskies at the Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game - an exhibition against Rhode Island at Mohegan Sun Arena on Oct. 14. The contest is an NCAA-approved charity exhibition benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer.
The 2024-25 campaign kicks off with banner night, as the regular season opens with an in-state clash against Sacred Heart on Nov. 6. Another local rival is up next with New Hampshire coming to town on Nov. 9.
UConn takes the court on Nov. 13 against a first-time foe in Le Moyne, then battles another new opponent when it hosts Texas A&M-Commerce on Nov. 19. That will be the final game before the 2024 Maui Invitational, with the Huskies set to take the floor at the Lahaina Civic Center on Nov. 25, 26 and 27. UConn will face Memphis in the first game in Maui, then either Colorado or Michigan State in game two before one of Auburn, Iowa State, Dayton and North Carolina in game three.
After returning from its three games in three days in Hawaii, UConn plays host to UMES in Connecticut on Nov. 30. The schedule ramps up as the calendar turns to December, with 2021 national champion Baylor visiting the Nutmeg State for a match-up in the final iteration of the BIG EAST-Big 12 battle. Winners of three of the last four titles, it will be only the second all-time meeting between the Huskies and Bears.
Connecticut faces its first true road test on Dec. 8, reigniting a series with Texas in Austin. UConn returns east for its non-conference finale, taking on Gonzaga on Dec. 14 in the 2024 Hall of Fame Series at the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden. The Huskies have played several memorable contests with the Bulldogs in recent years, including a dominant win in the 2023 NCAA West Regional Final and a double-digit victory last season in Seattle. Limited tickets for the contest against Gonzaga remain available at the link HERE.
UConn's conference schedule, along with venue designations, game times and television information, will be available in the coming weeks.
