BIG EAST Announces Conference Schedule For MBB
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST conference has announced the league slate for the 2024-25 regular season, completing the UConn men's basketball regular season schedule. In the true round robin format, the defending regular season and BIG EAST Tournament champion Huskies will face all 10 league foes at home and away.
Last season Connecticut turned in the most dominant season in BIG EAST history, setting the league record with 18 conference wins which included a historic 14-game winning streak. UConn defeated each of its league foes at least once last season, the only high major program able to make that claim.
UConn is the 11-time BIG EAST regular season champion, which is the most in league history, and has won the BIG EAST Tournament eight times. The eight tournament victories are tied with Georgetown for the most of any program. The double championship (regular season and tournament) for Connecticut in 2024 marked the sixth time it has turned that feat (1990, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2024).
The Huskies will open league play at home on Dec. 18 when Xavier visits Connecticut. Last season, UConn went 3-0 against the Musketeers to run the all-time series to 6-4 in favor of the Huskies. Up next is the 2024 finale with a trip to Butler on Dec. 21.
UConn rings in the new year in Chicago when it visits DePaul on Jan. 1, 2025. The Huskies are 19-1 all-time against the Blue Demons. Next up is a rivalry tilt when Providence visits on Jan. 5. That precedes a two-game road trip, with games at Villanova on Jan. 8 and at Georgetown on Jan. 11 ahead of the first schedule bye.
On Jan. 18 the Huskies will play host to Creighton, one of two league foes to clip them last season. Another home game against Butler follows on Jan. 21. A trip to Xavier is next on Jan. 25, before UConn closes out the infamous month of January home to DePaul on Jan. 29.
The month of February kicks off with a heavyweight showdown between the last two BIG EAST Champions and a 2024 Title game rematch when UConn travels to Marquette on Feb. 1. A brief respite follows with another bye before a Friday night showdown at home against St. John's on Feb. 7.
UConn will embark on a two-game road swing a trip to Creighton on Feb. 11, then take on Seton Hall in Newark on Feb. 15. Connecticut is back at home to face Villanova on Feb. 18, a series it swept last season and has won four-in-row in.
The stretch run kicks off in earnest with a visit to St. John's on Feb. 23. The Huskies swept the Red Storm, 3-0, last season in some of their most entertaining games of the season. A visit from Georgetown follows on Feb. 26 to close out February. UConn improved to 38-36 all-time against the Hoyas with a sweep last year and have won eight-straight in the series.
The month of March begins with a trip to Friartown, with a March 1 showdown at Providence after UConn won there and swept the season series last year. The regular season concludes with two games at home. First up is Marquette visiting on March 4, then Seton Hall closes out the regular season in Connecticut on March 8.
The BIG EAST Tournament will return to Madison Square Garden for the 43rd straight year from March 12-15. Venue designations, television information and tip times will be released at a later date.
