Bueckers Leads No. 5 UConn Past Butler
INDIANAPOLIS – Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had 23 points and 10 assists as the No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (26-3, 16-0 BIG EAST) beat Butler (15-15, 5-12), 86-47, Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Sarah Strong notched 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Five Huskies scored in double digits vs. the Bulldogs.
UConn held Butler to single digits in each of the first two quarters, taking a 42-17 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs outscored the Huskies 25-22 in the third, but UConn returned to form in the fourth, finishing the game on a 19-0 run.
Redshirt junior Caroline Ducharme made her season debut in the final minutes of the game. It was Ducharme's first appearance since Nov. 19, 2023.
The game was Butler's first sellout for a women's basketball game with 9,100 fans in attendance.
The Huskies play their final XL Center game of the season vs. No. 23 Creighton (22-4, 14-1) next Thursday at 7 p.m. Fewer than 150 tickets remain at uconntickets.com.
