Lacrosse Welcomes Denver to Storrs in BIG EAST Title Game Rematch
STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse welcomes defending BIG EAST Champion Denver University on Sunday afternoon in Storrs. The matchup will be the first home game for the Huskies since March 12th.
UConn Snapshot (8-4, 1-1 BIG EAST):
UConn began April with a road win over Butler on Tuesday afternoon, taking down the Bulldogs 17-7 for their first conference victory. Rayea Davis (Henrietta, N.Y.) paced the Huskies in the win, with four goals and three assists. Davis has 16 points in her last two games. Riley Daly (Ipswich, Mass.) had 10 draw controls against Butler. Daly leads UConn with 67 draw controls on the season, emphasized by two double-digit performances (Drexel, 2/8).
Denver Snapshot (8-4, 3-0 BIG EAST):
The defending BIG EAST Champions roll into Storrs winners of their last three games. The Pioneers have outscored their opponents 57-25 in this stretch, punctuated by an offensive explosion on Wednesday in a 23-10 win over Marquette. The headline for Denver has been midfielder Olivia Ripple, who broke the program single-game record with 10 goals in the victory. Ripple leads the team in goals (36) and points (44). The 23 goals scored by the team are the second-most scored in school history.
Preseason All-BIG EAST Team Selection Lauren Black has right behind Ripple with 43 points on the season. Alex Dorr leads the Pioneers with 84 draw controls, ranking 23rd in the nation with seven per game. Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Emelia Bohi has made 72 saves to the tune of .426%. Denver is led by Head Coach Liza Kelly, who is in her 19th season. Kelly has led the Pioneers to six straight NCAA Tournaments and four straight BIG EAST titles.
