UConn to Face Iowa in Second Women’s Champions Classic

NEW YORK – The UConn women's basketball team will face Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Barclays Center, in the second Shark Beauty Women's Champion Classic, Horizon Sports & Experiences and FOX Sports announced Wednesday.

For the second straight season, the event will feature UConn, Iowa, Louisville and Tennessee in primetime on FOX. The Champions Classic will remain at Barclays Center through 2026.

"The inaugural Shark Beauty Women's Champions Classic was everything I hoped it would be when we first came up with the idea," head coach Geno Auriemma said. "It was a great showcase for women's basketball and was well run from top to bottom. We're thrilled to return to Barclays Center next season. I can't wait to see how the event evolves as we continue it for the foreseeable future."

UConn faced Louisville in the inaugural Women's Champions Classic on Dec. 7, 2024. The Huskies beat the Cardinals, 85-52, led by 21 points from freshman Sarah Strong.

UConn is 6-4 all-time vs. Iowa. The teams last faced off in the 2024 NCAA Tournament Final Four.

The inaugural Shark Beauty Women's Champions Classic was packed with more than 11,000 fans in attendance at Barclays Center and peaked at 800k viewers on FOX.

General public ticket sales will begin March 14. Husky Athletic Fund members and UConn basketball season ticket holders will be able to purchase tickets directly through UConn in the coming months.
