HookC Offense Erupts, Loses at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The UConn baseball team (0-5) plated a season-high 17 runs but came up short in a wild 25-17 loss at Florida Atlantic (6-0) on Saturday evening at the FAU Baseball Stadium.

The Huskies pounded out 17 runs on 18 hits and posted a pair of seven run frames in the fifth and sixth innings. Tyler Minick hit his third career grand slam in the fifth inning and drove in a career-high five runs.

UConn had numerous milestone moments on Saturday with Anthony Belisario, Beau Root, Kyle Peters and Devin Wolff all making their UConn debuts.

Belisario homered in his first career at bat during a pinch hit spot in the sixth inning. The solo shot followed Carter Groen's first career hit at UConn, a two-run homer, that opened the scoring in a seven-run sixth. 

Connor Lane recorded his first career hit with a base hit to center in the sixth. Minick, Ryan Daniels, Maddix Dalena and Bryan Padilla all posted multi-hit efforts. 

Padilla hit his 21st career home run, a solo shot in the third inning. Overall the Huskies hit a season-high four long balls.

Sam Hutchinson posted a career-high 3.2 innings from the mound.
