STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (8-3-3, 2-2-2 BIG EAST) begins its penultimate week of the regular season with a home contest against Butler (6-4-3, 1-2-2 BIG EAST) on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. The Huskies then travel for the final time during the regular season to Villanova (4-5-4, 1-1-3 BIG EAST) to take on the Wildcats on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. Both games can be streamed on FloSports.

The Huskies are coming off a 3-0 victory at Marquette on Sunday with Abbey Jones scoring a pair of goals, her first since scoring in the season opener in August. Kaitlyn Mahoney returned to the starting lineup and posted four saves to secure the Huskies sixth shutout of the season.

Junior Chioma Okafor is tied for 9th in the country with 11 goals this season and had her five-match goal streak snapped against Marquette. Okafor leads the BIG EAST in goals and points while her five goals in BIG EAST play also lead the league.

Senior Sophie McCarthy leads the BIG EAST with three assists during conference matches this season.

UConn currently sits in fourth place in the BIG EAST standings with eight points while Butler is tied for eighth with five points and have last played 11 days ago against Xavier in a 3-0 loss.

Villanova is tied for fifth in the conference with six points this season. The Wildcats tied St. John's, 2-2, in ther last match on Sunday. 

The Huskies pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win against Butler in last year's BIG EAST Quarterfinals with Chioma Okafor scoring in the 89th minute to advance the Huskies. UConn is 1-4-1 all-time against the Bulldogs.

Last year, UConn beat Villanova, 4-0, at Morrone Stadium with Sophie McCarthy, Anaya Johnson and Abbey Jones all tallying goals. The Huskies have played to 0-0 draws the last two meetings at Villanova and last pulled off a victory in 2012 with a double overtime victory.
