Neary and Beran Earn Weekly BIG EAST Awards
STORRS, Conn.- Kelsey Neary (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Abby Beran (Wading River, N.Y.) were named BIG EAST Midfielder and Defensive Player of the Week respectively, the conference announced Monday.
Neary matched her career high with two goals, with the second being the overtime winner in a thrilling comeback victory over defending conference champion Denver on Sunday. The sophomore midfielder added two ground balls, along with one draw control and one caused turnover.
Beran receives the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the 2nd time this season. In the win over Denver, Beran anchored the defense with three caused turnovers, which tied a season-high. The sophomore defender also added four ground balls, and five draw controls to help the Huskies secure the victory.
The Huskies return to action on April 12th at 1pm against Marquette at Valley Fields.
