» The Huskies hit the road for another year of the CT Ice Tournament. The tournament
in its fifth season will feature Quinnipiac (#15), UConn (#13), Sacred Heart (RV) and
Yale.
» The Huskies are coming a 1-0-1 weekend against #5 Maine University, improving to
12-8-2 overall, and 7-6-2 in Hockey East Action.
» Joey Muldowney the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week had his best game in a
UConn uniform, scoring four goals and outscoring Maine 4-2 to help the Huskies upset
the #5 Black Bears in the opening game of a two-game series.
» Junior Tyler Muszelik returned to action and split the weekend with freshman Callum
Tung. Muszelik made 26 saves in a 4-2 victory in his return to action while Tung made
30 saves in a 2-2 overtime tie
» The Huskies will matchup against reigning CT Ice Champion Quinnipiac in the opening
game of the tournament. The Huskies have lost to the Bobcats the past two years in the
Championship game by a final of 4-3.
» Record Breakers: Hudson Schandor and John Spetz both made UConn history over the
weekend. Schandor surpassed Jachym Kondelik, becoming the leader for total points
in the Hockey East era, while John Spetz surpassed Joe Masonius for most points by a
defenseman in the Hockey East era.
» Hudson Schandor has been on a tear in the second half, registering a point in 6 of 7
games, and is currently third in Hockey East Scoring with 15 points since January 23.
» Hobey Baker: Joey Muldowney (22 points) and Hudson Schandor (20 points) are both
nominees for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award.
» Short Handed Strengths: The Huskies are currently lead the country with 7 short handed
goals scored. UConn scored two shorthanded goals this past weekend vs. New Hamp-
shire.
» Huskies in the NHL: Marc Gatcomb has become the 9th Husky to reach the pros, having most recently been called up by the New York Islanders. Gatcomb joins, Chase
Bradley, Ruslan Iskhakov, Yan Kuznetsov, Todd Krygier, Cole Schneider, Max Letunov,
Adam Huska, and Tage Thompson as former Huskies to make it to the league.
