UConn BSB Loses Series at Creighton
OMAHA - The UConn baseball team (13-17, 2-4 BIG EAST) dropped its second-straight BIG EAST series with an 11-7 loss to Creighton (19-8, 2-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Charles Schwab Field.
The UConn pitching staff put the team in a hole with 11 walks and five hit by pitches from the mound. The Bluejays took full advantage with 10 hits on the afternoon.
After Creighton plated five runs in the second inning, Tyler Minick answered with his second grand slam of the season to make it a 5-4 game.
Sam Biller added a two-run home run, his third of the season to make it an 11-7 game in the sixth. But the UConn bats were unable to close the gap any further.
LHP Gabe Van Emon pitched 1.2 shutout frames out of the pen and Greg Shaw III followed it up with 2.0 shutout frames.
Next up, the Huskies start a five-game homestand with a Tuesday, April 8 matchup against Bryant at 3:05 p.m.
