Huskies Fall to Villanova on Senior Day

Manchester, Conn. –  The UConn women's tennis team dropped their first conference match of the season as they fell to Villanova Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies started off the match strong once again with wins in the double's matchups. The Huskies clinched a point by winning no.2 and no.3 doubles. Heading into the singles matchups, the Huskies fought hard but came up short as Villanova outdueled UConn to clinch the win.

"We came up against a very good Villanova team today," said head coach Glenn Marshall. "We started with another good start in doubles, winning no.2 and no.3 to clinch the point. In singles it was a dogfight on every court today. Olivia had a great comeback win in three sets, and Cam was solid again winning in straight sets. A couple other matches went down to the wire in three sets, but it just wasn't our day down the stretch."

The Huskies honored Olivia Wright, Isabel Petri Bere and Maria Constantinou today as part of senior day celebrations.  "We celebrated our seniors today after the match. The last three years they've been together have been some of our best seasons in program history. I am so proud of each of them, and excited to see what their next chapter in life will be for them."
