Softball Signs Four to the Class of 2029
STORRS, Conn. - UConn Softball Head Coach Laura Valentino has announced the addition of four student-athletes to the class of 2029 on Monday afternoon.
The class consists of Ava Calciano (INF), Isabella Lundquist (OF), Caprice Bohmer (Pitcher), and Emma Willers (UT).
"We are excited to officially announce the 2025 class as new members of our Husky Softball family," said Valentino. "The 2025 class is driven, balanced, and ready to contribute to our team's success in the Big East!"
Meet the Incoming Class
Ava Calciano (Lewes, Del.)
Ava comes to UConn after lettering four seasons for head coach Mike Tkach at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware. Calciano was ranked the 46th best player in the class of 2025 by Extra Inning Softball and 31st by Line Drive Media. The All-State shortstop is a two-time All-Henlopen Conference player in 2023 and 2024, a three-time Offensive MVP, and a one-time Defensive MVP. Through her first three seasons she holds a .458 batting average, with 52 runs batted in, 35 extra base hits, and 40 stolen bases. She was also a recipient of the Bill Cordrey Award for leadership, commitment, and excellence in 2023. Calciano has also earned letters in volleyball.

Ava will fit right in as a Husky, and I see her contributing to the top of our lineup as both a speed and power threat."
Isabella Lundquist (Sayville, N.Y.)
Isabella arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons for head coach Tiffany Rowan at Sayville High School in West Sayville, New York. Lundquist, a two-time All-League and All-County player was the League 6 Player of the Year and Class A Melissa Marchese Player of the Year in her junior season. She was also named to the New York All-State team and All-Long Island team her junior season. Lundquist also holds letters in volleyball and winter track.

Additionally, she will bring clutch outfield play and her commitment to make UConn Softball better on and off the field. I can't wait to see Bella leave her mark in her time as a Husky."
Caprice Bohmer (Ashburn, Va.)
Caprice becomes a Husky after lettering four seasons for head coach Dave Wortman at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Virginia. Bohmer was a first team All-District player and second team All-Region in 2024. In 2023 she earned first team All-District, first team All-Region, and second team All-State. She has a career 1.00 era in the circle, holding a 15-3 record with 202 strikeouts in 104.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Bohmer has a career .408 batting average with 52 runs batted in and 13 home runs. Bohmer has also earned letters in basketball.
Head Coach Laura Valentino – "Caprice brings great skill to our team as a two-way player. I love Caprice's confident presence in the circle. Additionally, I have always seen her perform at her best when the game is on the line in the batter's box. Caprice will bring both strength and power as a pitcher and hitter and will also be a key contributor to our team's success as we move into the future."
Emma Willers (Dallas, Texas)
Emma arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons under head coach Kacie Visina at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. Willers is a three-time District Offensive Player of the Year, a two-time first team All-City player, and first team All-Conference player. She led her team last year holding a .609 batting average, driving in 16 runs, with eight extra base hits. Willers was named her team's MVP in 2024 and was also named District Newcomer of the Year in 2023.

Emma will be a force at the plate in our conference and I see her having a positive impact on our culture right from the start."
