HookC Runs Win Streak to 13, Sweeps St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. - The UConn baseball team (26-17, 11-4 BIG EAST) capped a three-game series sweep at St. Johns (20-20, 6-6 BIG EAST) with a 14-3 run-rule victory on Sunday afternoon at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

The series sweep at St. John's is the first three-game series sweep in program history and extended the Huskies win streak to 13 games.

The Huskies offense produced 44 runs in the three-game series and outscored the Red Storm 44-17 in the series. 

UConn tied a season-high with four home runs including three of them in the fifth inning. Tyler Minick tied for the BIG EAST lead with his 15th home run.

Aidan Dougherty and Sam Biller hit back-to-back home runs in the frame with Dougherty hitting his first home run as a Husky.

Dougherty finished the weekend with 10 hits with six doubles and one home run. Biller capped the weekend with nine runs batted in.

Rob Rispoli extended his team-leading hit streak to 11 games with a multi-hit effort and reached base four times at the top of the order. 

Charlie West was excellent on the mound, tying a career-high with 6.0 innings of work. The LHP worked around a season-high four errors by limiting the Red Storm to three runs (one earned) and struck out six.

RHP Jude Abbadessa and RHP Sean FInn closed out the eight-inning run rule victory with scoreless frames.

  • The 13 game win streak is the longest for the Huskies since winning 22 in a row back in 2010.
