Paige Bueckers Earns 2025 Nancy Lieberman Award

TAMPA, Fla. – UConn women's basketball redshirt senior Paige Bueckers is the recipient of the 2025 Nancy Lieberman Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday.

In its 26th year, the Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.

Bueckers is UConn's leader on and off the court in her final season in Storrs. She is averaging a team-high 20.0 points and 4.7 assists per game. Bueckers is one of the most efficient guards in the nation and is averaging a .539/.423/.882 shooting split this season. She ranks second nationally with a 3.49 assist-turnover ratio.

The Hopkins, Minn., native has led UConn to the 2025 NCAA Championship Game. In every season she has played at UConn, Bueckers has taken the Huskies to the Final Four.

Bueckers currently ranks third in UConn history with 2,422 career points and is ninth with 558 career assists.

Buecker is a 2025 WBCA, AP, USBWA and Wooden Award First Team All-American. She is the 2025 Wade Trophy recipient and BIG EAST Player of the Year.

Five Huskies have won the Lieberman Award 10 times: Bueckers (2021, '25), Moriah Jefferson (2015, '16), Renee Montgomery (2009), Diana Taurasi (2003, '04) and Sue Bird (2000, '01, '02).

The second-seeded Huskies (36-3) face No. 1-seed South Carolina (35-3) in the NCAA Tournament championship game on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The game will air on ABC, Westwood One and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
