Track & Field to Host Dog Fight Invite Friday
STORRS, Conn.- UConn track and field will host the first of three outdoor meets in Storrs on Friday, welcoming seven schools for the Dog Fight Invitational. The Huskies will recognize the contributions of thirty-six graduating seniors at the immediate conclusion of the meet.
The Huskies achieved great success last week at both the Raleigh Relays and Texas Relays. Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) set a new program record in the outdoor 5000m in Raleigh. UConn also received weekly awards BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week, with Joshua Mooney (Stonington, Conn.) securing a top-5 finish in Austin in the decathlon.
Mooney and Martin have been instrumental in the early season success on the men's side, with the Huskies coming in ranked #19 in the country, their first top-20 ranking on a national level in the program's history.
On the women's side, Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, Conn) has continued her successful final season with the Huskies into outdoor season, running the program's 2nd fastest time in the outdoor 5000m last week in Raleigh.
The meet will kick off at 11:00 am in the field, and at 12:00pm on the track. The senior day recognition will take place inside the Hugh Greer Field House at the immediate conclusion of the meet.
