Huskies Set for In State Matchup vs. Sacred Heart
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team is back in action tomorrow Thursday February 20 as they welcome Sacred Heart University to the Magic Lincer Tennis Club for a 1pm matchup.
The Huskies enter the matchup 5-1 overall and are coming off a strong victory over the Georgetown Hoyas. The Huskies hadn't beaten the Hoyas in four years and are looking to continue the momentum into the non-conference matchup against the Pios. The Huskies doubles have been strong all season led by the duo of Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou. The no.1 doubles pairing for the Huskies have yet to lose a matchup and will look to keep the streak alive tomorrow. Senior Isabel Petri Bere is coming off one of her best performances of the season as she was key in the victory over Georgetown with her singles victory being the win that clinched the match for UConn.
Sacred Heart enters the matchup 1-2 overall with their lone win coming against Stonehill college. The Pioneers have faced similar opponents as UConn as they lost to Army 4-0 and Seton Hall 4-1.
