Huskies Take Down No. 14 Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. – The UConn women's hockey team defeated the No. 14 ranked Boston University Terriers, 3-1 on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena. The Huskies move to 16-4-2 in Hockey East and 18-9-2 overall this season. The win puts UConn on 49 points in the Hockey East standings, just one point behind first place Boston University. 

Senior goaltender Tia Chan made her 18th start of the season in goal for the Huskies. Chan was phenomenal making 33 saves, picking up her 11th win of the season. This is Chan's tenth game this season where she has only conceded one goal or less. 

UConn opened the scoring in the first period on the power play, as senior forward Brianna Ware netted her fourth goal of the season on a redirected shot in front of goal, putting the Huskies up 1-0. 

UConn took the one goal lead into the first intermission, as the Huskies led in shots, 16-8 in the first period. 

Freshman forward Claire Murdoch extended the Huskies lead in the second period, scoring her team leading 13th goal of the season, making it 2-0. 

Boston University trimmed into the UConn lead with three minutes to go in the third period, scoring their lone goal of the game. Neely Nicholson recorded her fourth goal of the season. 

UConn went into the second intermission with the 2-1 lead, with shots favoring the Terriers 12-10 in the second period. 

Senior forward Jada Habisch sealed the win for the Huskies with her second shorthanded goal of the season, making it 3-1. Habisch now has ten goals this season and has scored four goals in her last three games.
