No. 6 UConn Earns Complete Win Over Seton Hall
STORRS, Conn. – Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers reached 2,000 career points and redshirt senior Aubrey Griffin returned to action as the No. 6 UConn women's basketball team (17-2, 8-0 BIG EAST) beat Seton Hall (13-5, 5-2), 96-36, Sunday afternoon in Gampel Pavilion.
Bueckers scored her 2,000th point on a jumper at 8:05 in the second quarter. She became the 12th Husky all-time to reach the milestone and in doing so in her 102nd career game, became the fastest UConn player to the milestone.
Bueckers finished with 18 points and seven assists vs. Seton Hall.
Griffin played her first game since Jan. 3, 2024, returning from a knee injury. She finished the game with three points, four rebounds and two assists in 11 minutes.
Freshman Sarah Strong led the Huskies on both sides of the court as she notched her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Strong shot 9-11 from the field and was 3-3 on three pointers.
UConn shot 56.5 percent in the game, including an impressive 53.1 percent from three-point range.
The Huskies forced 19 Seton Hall turnovers, scoring 27 points off them.
Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 18 points, recording double digits for the fourth straight game.
All 12 Huskies who were eligible to play scored vs. the Pirates.
UConn returns to Gampel on Wednesday to host Villanova (10-9, 4-3) Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY.
