Huskies To Face Baylor In 2024 Big 12-BIG EAST Battle
<p><strong>NEW YORK – </strong>The matchups for the 2024 Big 12-BIG EAST Battle were announced by the conferences on Thursday (April 25) morning. Playing in the conference challenge for the fourth time in its final iteration, the UConn men's basketball will take on perennial power Baylor in Connecticut on Dec. 4, 2024.</p> <p>Tip time, television information and venue details will be shared at a later date.</p> <p>UConn has a brief series history with Baylor. The lone all-time matchup was a 96-88 win for Fred Shabel, Wes Bialosuknia and the Huskies on Dec. 28, 1965 in Waco. It was part of a two-game swing for the eventual 1966 Yankee Conference co-champions, also playing at SMU on Dec. 30.</p> <p>The contest will pit three of the last four national title winners against each other, as Baylor took home the crown in 2021 before UConn's back-to-back titles in '23 and '24. The Huskies are 1-2 all-time in The Battle. They dropped their first contest in the conference challenge at West Virginia in 2021, won at home against Oklahoma State in 2022 and dropped a heartbreaker at Kansas in 2023.</p> <p>The Baylor matchup is the third announced schedule piece for the 2024-25 season. UConn will also take part in the 2024 Maui Invitational along with Auburn, Colorado, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State and North Carolina from Nov. 25-27, 2024. The Huskies will square off with Gonzaga on Dec. 14, 2024 at Madison Square Garden in the Basketball Hall of Fame Series.</p> <p>Additional schedule information will be announced in the coming weeks and months.</p>
