Kyle Johnson and Terrel Williams Set Indoor Records

STORRS, Conn.- UConn Track & Field competed in the John Terrier Classic Invite on Friday and Saturday. The Huskies also hosted the Greg Roy-al Rumble meet in Storrs on Saturday. In the Terrier Classic, the women competed on Friday, with the men concluding the meet on Saturday.

Terrier Classic:

  • BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week Jenna Zydanowicz followed up her personal best performance on Friday with a strong mile time of 4:39.78 
  • Calista Mayer made her season mile debut with a time of 4:53.30
  • Malin Rahm competed in the 3000m, running a time of 9:41.36
  • Chloe Trudel also ran in the 3000, a second behind Rahm of 9:42.50
  • Rachael Woodruff set a PB in the 3000m at 9:48.04
  • Loghan Hughes set a personal best in the 3000m with a time of 9:55.98
  • Saturday:
  • Mahamed Sharif competed in the 800m with a time of 1:50.25
  • Alec Sauter ran in the 3000m with a time of 8:31.48

Roy-al Rumble:

Simultaneous to the Terrier Classic, the Huskies also hosted the Greg Roy-al Rumble in Storrs to start the month of February. Kyle Johnson (triple jump) and Terrel Williams (60m hurdles) provided highlights for UConn on the day.Johnson set the program's triple jump record, jumping 16.07m. Williams tied his own hurdle record, with the top time of the afternoon of 7.70. 

Women's Field:

  • Gabriela DeFelice set a personal best in the shot put at 13.46m, the top throw of the day 
  • Audrey Kozak won the pentathlon, with a personal best score of 3,374 points 
    • Mackenzie Braunstein and Emily also set personal bests in the pentathlon at 3,255, and 2,440 points respectively
  • Rachel Mason cracked the top 10 in the pole vault, the 6th best mark at 3.72m
  • Natalia Surdej also joined the top 10, placing 4th all time in the weight throw at 19.33m
  • Abby Bernas and Katie Floering set personal bests in the pole vault, at 3.57m and 3.42m, respectively 

Men's Field:

Women's Track:

  • Jaia James set a personal best in the women's 60m with a time of 7.55, tying the 8th best mark in program history 
  • Maegan Feeney set a PR in 60m hurdles with a time of 8.87
