UConn Welcomes in 18 Transfers to the Program for 2025
STORRS, Conn. - UConn head football coach Jim Mora announced the Huskies have added 18 student-athletes through the transfer portal who will join the Huskies for the spring semester. The 18 new players join the previously announced 12 incoming freshmen who received athletic aid agreements as announced on National Signing Day in December as new additions to the UConn roster for the 2025 season.
In addition to the incoming 18 transfers, the following eight incoming freshmen have enrolled for the spring semester and will be available for spring practices and workouts: defensive back Axavier Bridges Brooks (Upper Marlboro, MD), defensive end Nykobi Brown (Valdosta, GA), quarterback K'saan Farrar (Virginia Beach, VA), cornerback Osiris Gilbert (Duluth, GA), offensive lineman Hill Greenlee (Dallas, TX), offensive linemen Joe McGann (Lagrangeville, NY), cornerback Saxton Suchanic (York, PA), and tight end Xavier Watson (Waverly, NY).
Vincent Carroll-Jackson
Defensive Line – 6-5/290 – Harrisburg, PA / Nebraska
Carroll-Jackson comes to Storrs after two seasons at Nebraska…He will have three years of eligibility remaining…During his two-seasons in Lincoln, he appeared in 11 games…Registered one tackle in 10 games in 2024 and was the recipient of the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team and Tom Osborne Citizenship Team awards…Played his high school football for Central Dauphin East in Pennsylvania…He did not play football until his senior year of high school and had 50 tackles, 20.0 for a loss with eight sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recoveries to earn all-conference accolades…Was the highest ranked recruit in his school's history, regarded as a four-star recruit by On3…Originally a Syracuse commit, chose Nebraska over offers from Florida, Georgia, Pittsburgh and Rutgers, among others.
Stephon Wright
Defensive End - 6-5/285 – Los Angeles, CA / Texas Southern
Wright is a defensive end transferring to UConn after playing the 2024 season at Texas Southern…He will have two years of eligibility remaining…Last season at Texas Southern, he posted 17 total tackles including 5.5 for a loss with 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 10 games…Transferred to Texas Southern after three seasons at SMU where he did not see action in 2021 and 2023 but recorded 15 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss and an interception in five games before an injury cut his season short…Was at Arizona State in 2019 and 2020, appearing in six total games…Was a consensus four-star prospect at Cathedral HS…A three-year member of varsity squad and led his team to an 18-5 record over the last two seasons, making the CIF Southern Section Playoffs in both seasons… Compiled 123 total tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, seven passes defended, three forced fumbles, and one interception in 27 games during his high school career.
Kolubah Pewee Jr.
Defensive Back – 5-11/170 – Staten Island, NY / Georgetown
Pewee Jr. is a cornerback transferring to UConn after playing the last three seasons at Georgetown…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…He transferred to Georgetown after one season (2021-22) where he did not see any action…During his three seasons for the Hoyas he appeared in 21 games, making 51 total tackles, 38 solo, with a pair of interceptions and 12 pass break-ups…In 2024 he saw action in 11 games and make 26 tackles, 19 solo, with a pick and five break-ups…During the 2023 campaign, he played in nine games, making 25 tackles, 19 solo, with 2.0 tackles for loss, an interception and seven pass break-ups…Played his high school football at Tottenville before a short stint at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School…Was an All-State and All-City player at Tottenville.
Terry Kirksey
Linebacker - 6-3/228 – Theodore, AL / Kansas State
Kirksey is a linebacker coming into UConn after spending the last two seasons playing at Kansas State…He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining…Redshirted his first season in Manhattan in 2023 and appeared in four games this past fall in 2024…Registerred his first career tackle for the Wildcats at BYU…Prior to coming to KSU, he played two seasons at Hutchinson CC… Was regarded as the 21st-best overall community-college prospect in the Class of 2023 by On3, while he was rated the third best community-college linebacker by On3, 247Sports and ESPN...Named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-America honoree...He totaled 102 tackles over his two-year career, including an 80-tackle campaign as a sophomore to earn first team all-conference honors and help lead the Blue Dragons to an NJCAA National Championship game appearance…Played at Baker HS under head where earned first team All-State honors as a senior from the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) and named to the All-Coastal Alabama team by AL.com…He was also named a finalist for the ASWA 7A Lineman of the Year award...He finished his senior campaign with 140 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss and 15 sacks while also forcing 11 fumbles.
MJ Flowers
Running Back – 6-1/220 – Cincinnati, OH / Eastern Illinois
Flowers is a running back coming to Storrs after spending the last three seasons at Eastern Illinois…He will have two years of eligibility remaining…During his three seasons for the Panthers, Flower appeared in 27 total games, rushing for 1837 yards on 402 carries and 15 touchdowns…He averaged 4.7 yards per carry…He also caught 80 passes out of the backfield for 539 yards and three scores…In 2024, Flowers earned All-Big South/OVC first team honors after starting all 12 games and rushing for 865 yards during the season with seven touchdowns and a 4.1 yards per carry average...He added 45 receptions for 347 yards and three touchdowns… had three 100-yard rushing games with a season high 194 yards on 27 carries with one touchdown against Western Illinois…He set the school record for single game receptions by a running back with 11 against Southeast Missouri…He finished fourth in the conference in rushing and third in all-purpose yards…As a freshman in 2023, played in all 11 games starting the final eight games…He finished as the runner-up for the Jerry Rice FCS Freshman of the Year Award...He was named Big South/OVC Football Offensive Freshman of the Year...Named first team Freshman All-America by Stats Perform, Phil Steele and Football Central/SI... Jones II is a defensive end that comes to Storrs four seasons at Iowa State…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…He has appeared in 24 games during his Iowa State career, posting 26 total tackles, 4.0 TFLs with 3.0 sacks and a forced fumble…Last fall, he appeared in six games making six tackles, 1.0 for a loss…Had his most productive season in 2023, playing in all 13 games and making 19 tackles including 3.0 sacks…Was a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll student-athletes for three seasons…Played his high school football at Eden Prairie HS.
Bryun Parham
Linebacker - 5-11/223 – Long Beach, CA / Washington
Parham is a linebacker transferring to UConn after playing for Washington last fall…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…Parham transferred to Washington for 2024 from San Jose State, appearing in four games making 12 tackles with a forced fumble before deciding to redshirt the remainder of the season…Played three seasons for San Jose State, appearing in 32 games during his career…He posted 199 total tackles, 11.0 for a loss including 5.5 sacks…He also had six pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and an interception…Had a break-out season in 2023, leading his team with 106 tackles to go with 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pick…Was an All-Mountain West honorable mention honoree…In 2022, posted 93 tackles, 6.0 for losses with two forced fumbles and three sacks…Played his high school football at Long Beach Poly…Named a two-time CaiHiSports all-state honoree…Was a first team All-State player in 2021…Named the 2021 Moore League MVP, an All-C.I.F. Division II Southern Section pick, and a 2019 first team All-Moore League choice.
Kamo'I Latu
Defensive Back - 6-0/195 – Honolulu, HI / Wisconsin
Latu is a safety who will transfer to UConn after spending the last three seasons at Wisconsin…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…During his three seasons in Madison, he appeared in 27 total games, making 75 tackles, 53 solo, with 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, nine pass break-ups and two interceptions…In 2024 was limited to three games played…In 2023, played in 11 games with six starts and had 19 tackles with three pass break-ups…In his first season in 2022, was in on all 13 games, starting 12 at safety…Made 55 tackles, tied for fourth most on the team…He added 3.0 TFLs and 2.0 sacks with two picks…Transferred to Wisconsin after two years at Utah…In 2021 he played in 14 games for Utah and had 19 tackles and three pass break-ups…Played high school football at Saint Louis School…Was a three-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN…Named first-team all-state and all-ILH as a senior, also earning first-team all-state as a junior and a two-time ILH Open All-Star, earning first-team honors as a senior.
Devin Pringle
Defensive Back - 5-10/182 – Bolingbrook, IL / Grand Valley State
Pringle is a defensive back transferring to UConn after playing the last four seasons at Grand Valley State…He will have one season of eligibility remaining….Played in 38 career games at GVS, making 90 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, with 18 pass break-ups and two interceptions…In 2024, was named D2CCA First Team All-American after making a career-high 44 tackles and 1.5 TFL…In 2023, was named a first team All-GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference) with 32 tackles, 8 PBU, and one pick… Prepped at Bolingbrook High School…He helped lead his team to a 9-3 record his junior year.
Reymello Murphy
Wide Receiver - 6-0/185 – Fremont, CA / Arizona
Murphy is a wide receiver who comes to Storrs after spending last season at Arizona…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…Last fall he appeared in four games for the Wildcats, making two catches for 38 yards…Transferred to Arizona after playing the 2023 season at Old Dominion…He appeared in all 13 games, starting eight at wide receiver and finished third on the team with 28 receptions…He led the team with 502 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns…He finished 27th in the country averaging 17.9 yards per catch…Prior to going to ODU, he recorded 17 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns at the College of San Mateo in 2022…Attended Santa Margarita HS.
Javonte Vereen
Tight End - 6-4/220 – Havelock, NC / NC State
Vereen is a tight end who transfers to UConn after two seasons at NC State…He will have three seasons of eligibility left…In 2024 appeared in three games…During his freshman year, he appeared in 10 games, recording four catches for 65 yards, all against No. 10 Notre Dame…Played at Havelock HS, with career stats of catching 132 passes for 2,495 yards and 35 touchdowns at Havelock…Finished prep career with 41 total touchdowns. Also had 64 tackles on defense in 34 career varsity games…Was the No. 9 player in North Carolina according to ESPN and the No. 9 tight end in the nation. A four-star prospect per ESPN and On3. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports and Rivals.
Ben Smiley
Defensive End - 6-4/308 – Norfolk, VA / Virginia
Smiley is a defensive end coming to Storrs after a playing career at Virginia…He will have one year of eligibility remaining…While at UVA, appeared in 40 games with 12 starts, making 50 total tackles, 6.5 for a loss with 3.5 sacks…Is coming off a 2024 season where he played in 11 games, making 12 tackles with 1.5 tackles for a loss…In 2023, he appeared in nine games with eight starts, finishing with 15 tackles, 3.5 for a loss and two sacks…Played high school football at Indian River HS…He helped Indian River to a 12-1 record and a regional finals appearance in 2018…Was named a first-team all-region honoree in 2018…As a junior in 2017 he was first-team All-Tidewater after leading the Braves with 69 tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks…Earned second-team VHSL all-state honors in 2017…He was also first-team All-Southeastern District and Class 5 Region A…A three-star recruit by ESPN.com, Rivals.com and 247sports.com.

Albert is a safety who is transferring to UConn after playing at Mississippi State last fall…He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining…He appeared in four games in 2024 and recorded four tackles…He redshirted in 2023 due to injury…Came to MSU after transferring in from Kentucky…Saw action in 10 games as a freshman for the Wildcats in 2022, making three tackles, including 1.0 for a loss…Played at Fairfield Prep HS where he was a four-star prospect who ranked as the No. 12 prospect in the state of Alabama (Rivals) and the No. 20 "athlete" in the nation…He was listed as the No. 21-ranked cornerback nationally by 247Sports…Played both wide receiver and defensive back in high school.
Caleb Burton III
Wide Receiver - 5-11/174 – Austin, TX / Auburn
