Track & Field Looks to Complete Dual Season Sweep at BIG EAST Outdoor Championships

STORRS, Conn.- UConn men's and women's track and field will look to complete another dual indoor/outdoor BIG EAST Track and Field Championship sweep, as the Huskies host the 2025 Outdoor Track and Field BIG EAST Championships in Storrs. The championships kick off on Thursday May 15th and conclude on Saturday May 17th at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.

The men's side is in pursuit of their fifth consecutive outdoor championship and ninth outdoor conference title overall. Last May, the Huskies secured the 2024 outdoor championship with 287.5 points, securing the title over host Villanova (162 points). The women's side is looking for their fourth straight outdoor championship. UConn posted 210.33 points last season to win the 2024 Outdoor Championship over Villanova (141.5 points). The men won seven individual event titles last season, with the women securing four. Jasmine Barrow earned Most Outstanding Field Performer honors at last year's championships. The UConn coaching staff was named men's and women's coaching staff of the year. Championship victories by both the men and women would be the eighth occurrence of a dual championship.

The Huskies roll into the BIG EAST Championships as the number one ranked team in the conference on both the men's and women's sides according to the track & field rating index (TFRI). UConn has several event squad groups in the top 10 of TFRI. On the men's side, the decathlon comes in ranked third, triple jump eighth, and javelin ninth. The women's side sees the heptathlon squad ranked third nationally and the steeplechase ranked fifth.

In the outdoor regular season, the Huskies posted 49 all-time program top 10 marks, set two school records in the men's 5000m and men's long jump, and secured nine weekly BIG EAST awards.

The UConn men rank third all-time in BIG EAST Outdoor championship individual event and relay titles with 116, and the women fourth with 74.
