Lacrosse Returns Home to Take on Xavier Saturday Afternoon
STORRS- UConn women's lacrosse (9-5, 2-2 BE) returns home this weekend to take on the Xavier Musketeers Saturday afternoon. With just two games left in the regular season, the Huskies find themselves in a competitive BIG EAST race. UConn is 2-2 conference play, one half game behind Marquette for the fourth spot in the conference and a trip to Villanova for the BIG EAST Tournament.
Last time out, the Huskies dropped a close game to the Golden Eagles 16-15. Emma Dacey (Hopkinton, Mass.) chipped in five points in the defeat, adding three goals and two assists. Dacey has registered at least three points in her last four games. Meg O'Brien (Morris Plains, N.J.) tallied the second hat trick of her freshman season. Riley Daly (Ipswich, Mass.) added nine draw controls, leading UConn with 83 on the season. Rayea Davis (Henrietta, N.Y.) eclipsed the 40-goal mark for the second time in her career, finding the back of the net twice against Marquette. Davis leads the Huskies with 41 goals and is 12th on the all-time scoring list with 111 tallies for her career.
Xavier Snapshot:
The Musketeers (1-11, 0-4 BE) come to Connecticut looking for their first BIG EAST win of the season. In their last game, X fell to Villanova 18-9. Despite the defeat, eight Musketeers found the back of the net. Lola Mancuso leads the Xavier attack, with a team-high 39 goals and 44 points. Mancuso ranks 38th in the nation in goals per game (3.25) Lily Villafor scored a goal in her fifth straight game, maintaining the longest streak on the team. The Musketeers led the BIG EAST with 10.58 saves per game.
All-Time Series:
UConn leads the all-time series with the Musketeers 2-0. The Huskies defeated Xavier last year in Cincinnati 19-7.
Promotions:
UConn will recognize impactful alumni that have contributed to the program's success, including members and head coach of the 2005 ECAC Championship Team, who defeated Boston College to take the ECAC crown. In addition, the Huskies will host their annual Pride Game, as well.
