Karaban Named To Midseason Wooden Award Watch List
LOS ANGELES – UConn men's basketball standout Alex Karaban has been named to the 2024-25 Men's Midseason Top 25 Watch List for the John R. Wooden Award, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Tuesday (Jan. 7).
Karaban is in the midst of a stellar junior season, doing it all and leading the No. 9 Huskies with 16.3 points per game while ranking among the BIG EAST leaders in field goal percentage (48.3 percent), 3-point field goal percentage (42.5 percent), rebounding (5.3 rpg), assists (2.8 apg) and blocked shots (1.8 bpg). The UConn captain has scored in double-figures 11 times, posted five 20+ point outings and notched his first career double with 21 points and 11 rebounds at Texas on Dec. 8.
The consummate winner, since Karaban arrived on campus for his redshirt season in January 2022 the Huskies are a staggering 93-21 (.816 winning percent) and are 76-14 (.844) with the 6-8 forward in the starting lineup. Karaban is posting career-highs across the board in his junior season while shouldering a larger load for the Huskies.
Karaban and Connecticut are back in action on Wednesday night to face Villanova at Finneran Pavilion.
