HookC Run-Rules Rhode Island

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (27-18) earned a run-rule victory, 16-6, in seven innings on Wednesday night against Rhode Island (27-18) at Elliot Ballpark.

The Huskies gave up a first inning grand slam to the Rams but proceeded to outscore URI, 16-2 the rest of the game.

Sophomore Tyler Minick homered for the fourth time in his last five games with a two-run home run in the first. It is the 16th home run of the season for Minick.

The Huskies took advantage of a season-high 11 walks and five hit by pitches to post double digit runs for the seventh-straight game.

Sam Biller had a big day at the plate with a solo home run in the third to tie the game at four and then smacked a two-run double in the fourth to highlight a five-run inning for the Huskies.

Minick finished the night with four RBI and Biller, Connor Lane and Ryan Daniels all drove in three. Connor Lane ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run and put the 10-run rule into affect.

Next up, the Huskies head on the road for the final time in the regular season with a three-game BIG EAST series at Villanova.
