No. 5 UConn Beats Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 20 points to lead the No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (22-3, 13-0 BIG EAST) to a 77-40 win at Providence (10-16, 3-10) Sunday afternoon.
Bueckers added five assists and four steals vs. the Friars.
Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored all 17 of her points in the third quarter. Sophomore Ashlynn Shade notched 12 points.
UConn forced 25 Providence turnovers, and the Huskies scored 21 points off turnovers. The Huskies held the Friars to single digits in three quarters.
Shade scored eight points in the first quarter as UConn worked to a 23-9 lead. UConn pushed the lead to 40-16 at halftime.
Fudd shot 6-for-7 and went 5-for-5 from three-point range in the third quarter.
Sophomore KK Arnold matched her career high with seven assists.
The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday to host St. John's (13-10, 3-9) at 7:30 p.m. Limited tickets remain HERE.
