UConn’s Annual NCAA Financial Report Released
- Self-generated revenues increase in FY24 to $62.7 million; a $7.6 million increase from FY23; and a 43.5% increase from FY22

STORRS, CT – The UConn Division of Athletics announced its annual NCAA financial report for the fiscal year 2023-24, highlighting a $7.6 million increase in self-generated revenue.
The amount of institutional support received by UConn Athletics in FY24 totaled $31.7 million, a decrease of nearly 32% from FY22. In addition to decreases in personnel costs, the reduction was due, in part, to substantial increases in overall ticket sales and fundraising revenues.
For the second-consecutive year, UConn Athletics was able to self-generate nearly 60% of its own revenues, up from 44% in FY22. Fiscal year 2024 also saw 8,696 people donate to Athletics, representing a 20% increase from FY23, while total financial commitments totaled $26.0 million. UConn has garnered $98.3 million in gifts over the last four fiscal years (FY21-FY24). The department generated $16.1 million in ticket sales in FY24, up from $12.9 million in FY23.
In addition, UConn Athletics continues to make a significant annual contribution to the state's economy. The total economic output stemming from athletic department operations and events in FY24 is estimated to be more than $242.7 million. This impressive financial impact represents over a 700% return on the direct institutional support in back-to-back years.
Athletics' self-generated revenues, combined with university support, has helped fuel outstanding academic and athletic achievements. Fiscal year 2024 was highlighted by: 76% of student-athletes earning a 3.0-or-better GPA during the spring term, including 82 student-athletes earning a 4.0, 100 student-athletes named to the Dean's List in their respective school or college, 30 student-athletes named New England Scholars, eight student-athletes named Babbidge Scholars and a 92% Graduation Success Rate.
In competition, the Huskies captured a sixth men's basketball national championship and 11 conference championships (Nine BIG EAST regular season and conference championships / Two Hockey East regular season and conference championships). UConn was the recipient of the 2023-24 BIG EAST President's Award, given annually to the institution that has excelled at the highest levels in academics, athletics and citizenship during the previous academic year. UConn was one of seven institutions nationally to rank in the top-25 in both the men's (3rd) and women's (24th) Capital One Cup final standings.
