No. 7 UConn Face Georgetown Saturday
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 7 UConn women's basketball team (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) travels to Washington, D.C., to face Georgetown (8-7, 1-3) in the Entertainment & Sports Arena on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).
Graduate student Azzi Fudd had a season-high 23 points and three steals to lead UConn past Xavier, 81-27, on Wednesday. Freshman Allie Ziebell came off the bench to score a personal-best 17 points. The Huskies scored 42 points off turnovers and had 36 paint points.
The Huskies are 55-6 all-time vs. Georgetown. UConn has won the last 38 meetings between the teams. Fudd's mother, Katie, played at Georgetown from 1998-01.
Fudd is a native of Arlington, Va., and attended St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. Sophomore Qadence Samuels is a native of Forestville, Md., about nine miles away from the Entertainment & Sports Arena.
The Huskies and Hoyas previously faced off on Dec. 15 in the XL Center. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 24 points to lead UConn to a 79-44 win.
Georgetown fell to Villanova, 77-62, on Wednesday. This season, Kelsey Ransom leads Georgetown with 20.6 points per game. Darnell Haney is in his first season as head coach at Georgetown.
