Karaban On Wooden Award Late Midseason Top 20 List

LOS ANGELES – UConn men's basketball standout Alex Karaban has been named to the 2024-25 Men's Late Midseason Top Watch List for the John R. Wooden Award, as announced the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Tuesday (Feb. 11). Selected by a panel of national college basketball experts, the list comprises 20 student-athletes who are frontrunners for the Wooden Award All-American Team and Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player.

Karaban is in the midst of a stellar third season in Storrs, as the Husky captain has stuffed the stat sheet with 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He is among the BIG EAST leaders in every major statistical category and ranks among the nation's leaders logging 35.7 minutes per game.

This season Karaban has scored 20 or more in a game five times and recorded his first career double-double with 21 and 11 at Texas on Dec. 8. He is the only Husky to lead UConn in scoring, rebounding and assists at least five times each this season. Overall, in his career UConn holds an 84-18 record.

The Huskies are back in action later on Tuesday night when they visit No. 24 Creighton.
