Huskies Head to Boston College on Tuesday
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team will jump out of conference play this week as the Huskies head to Boston College as part of a home and home series with the Eagles this season. First pitch is set for 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 1 and will be televised live on ACC Network.
UConn is coming off a weekend series win at Creighton and are winners in five of their last six games. In that six game stretch, the Huskies have scored 66 runs on 70 hits, recording 12 home runs, and 15 doubles, posting a .389 batting average as a team.
Sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Breslin has been swinging the hottest bat in the Huskies lineup. In her last six games, Breslin leads the Huskies in batting average (.737), hits (14), home runs (6), RBI (17), runs scored (11), and slugging percentage (1.789). Breslin recently garnered BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the second straight week. Freshman infielder Cat Petteys has also swung a hot bat in the middle of the Huskies lineup this season. Last weekend at Creighton, Petteys hit two home runs adding to her season total of five this season which leads all freshmen in the BIG EAST. Petteys earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season for her performances at Creighton over the weekend.
Scouting Boston College (15-15, 3-9 ACC)
The Boston College Eagles are coming off a weekend series win over Pittsburgh and are winners in four of their last five games. The Eagles are coached by Amy Kvilhaug in her sixth season. Boston College has been led by senior outfielder Jordan Stephens this season who leads the Eagles in batting average, home runs, RBI, and runs scored. The Huskies and Eagles split their home and home series for the past two straight seasons. UConn leads the all-time series 46-22.
