HookC Welcomes Villanova to Elliot Ballpark
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (22-18, 7-2 BIG EAST) hosts Villanova (14-24, 5-7 BIG EAST) at Elliot Ballpark this weekend with the series beginning at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, April 26. Game two starts at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday and the series finale will be at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. All three games will be streamed on FloSports/BIG EAST Digtial Network.
UConn enters the weekend by winning 11 of its last 13 games including tying a season-high with five in a row. UConn is in first place in the BIG EAST with a 7-2 mark in conference and have won series against Xavier, St. John's and Georgetown (sweep).
The Wildcats come to town coming off back-to-back series wins in the BIG EAST Conference. Villanova swept Seton Hall on the road a couple weekends ago and won a home series against Creighton last weekend.
A pair of transfer have led the way offensively for Villanova with Rider transfer Scott Shaw leading the team with a .294 average, nine home runs and a .587 slugging percentage and Richmond transfer Jason Neff driving in a team-best 34 runs.
UConn will alter its starting rotation a bit this weekend with Ian Cooke still starting on Friday but Stephen Quigley and Garrett Coe will flip spots with Quigley moving up to Saturday to start.
The Huskies most recently secured a pair of run-rule victories in seven innings against UMass, 13-3, on Tuesday night and against Hofstra, 14-3, on Wednesday.
