Huskies Surge Past No. 12 Boston University
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team defeated the 12th ranked Boston University Terriers, 4-1 on Friday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. UConn will play for the Hockey East regular season title tomorrow afternoon at Boston University at 4:00pm on NESN. The Huskies will need to win in regulation in order to repeat as Hockey East regular season champions.
Senior goaltender Megan Warrener made her 12th start of the season in between the pipes for the Huskies. Warrener made 24 saves, picking up her eighth win of the season.
UConn opened the scoring just seven minutes into the first period. Freshman forward Sadie Hotles found the back of the net for the second time this season, putting the Huskies up 1-0.
UConn took the one goal lead into the first intermission, as shot favored the Huskies in the first period, 10-9.
The Huskies offense surged in the second period, scoring three goals to break the game open. Hotles started the stellar period for the Huskies, scoring her second goal of the game three minutes into the second period. This is Hotles first career multi-goal game for the Huskies, giving her five points this season.
Sophomore forward Martha Mobarak scored the Huskies third goal of the game with ten minutes remaining in the period. For Mobarak, she now has two goals this season giving her three points so far in her sophomore campaign.
Graduate student forward Jada Habisch capped off the Huskies big period with her 13th goal of the season and her seventh goal in her last seven games.
UConn went into the second intermission in the driver's seat with a 4-0 lead. The Huskies outshot the Terriers, 10-7 in the second period.
Boston University scored their lone goal on the power play four minutes into the third period, making it 4-1. UConn stood strong, keeping the Terriers off the board for the remainder of the game. This is the 13th time this season UConn has kept a team to one goal or less in a win.

UConn will close out their regular season slate on Saturday, February 22. The Huskies will play for the Hockey East regular season title as they travel to Boston University. Puck drop is set for 4:00pm at Walter Brown Arena. The game will be televised on NESN. UConn needs to win in regulation to secure the title.
