Bueckers Named AAU Sullivan Award Semifinalist
ORLANDO, Fla. – UConn women's basketball redshirt senior Paige Bueckers was one of 38 athletes named as a semifinalist for the 95th AAU James E. Sullivan Award.
A public vote running through Feb. 25 will determine the award's finalists. Fans can vote for Bueckers HERE.
Since 1930, the AAU James E. Sullivan Award has been presented to the most exceptional athlete at the collegiate, Olympic, or other similarly elite level in the United States. As well as honoring athletic excellence, the AAU Sullivan award also recognizes the chosen athlete's character and honors their quality of leadership, citizenship, and sportsmanship.
Bueckers leads the Huskies with 18.4 points per game and 4.6 assists per game. One of the most efficient guards in the nation, Bueckers is currently maintaining a .526/.416/.878 shooting split. She ranks second nationally with a 3.62 assist-turnover ratio.
She is the third Husky in program history to compile 2,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in her career, joining Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore. Bueckers was the fastest UConn player to 2,000 career points.
Bueckers is also on the Naismith Trophy midseason team, Wooden Award late midseason team and Nancy Lieberman Award candidate.
UConn alumna Breanna Stewart won the AAU Sullivan Award in 2015.
