Kyle Johnson Named Second Team All-American at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- Sophomore jumper Kyle Johnson (Montverde, Fla.) earned NCAA Division I Second Team All-American Honors Friday night, after a jump of 15.82m in the triple jump on Day 2 of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Johnson finished in 10th place overall, making his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. Johnson joined teammate Marc Morrison (Orlando, Fla.) as second team all-Americans in the 2025 indoor season. Both Johnson and Morrison will look to continue the momentum into the start of the outdoor track & field season that kicks off next week.
Of Note: Johnson and Morrison were the first UConn men's track & field athletes to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships since Mahamed Sharif (Westbrook, Maine) qualified in the 800m in the 2023 indoor season.
Quote from Director of Track & Field Beth Alford-Sullivan:
" Kyle competed really well today at his first NCAA championship, earning 2nd team All-America honors and represented the program very well. Excited for his future.
Coach Darryl Sullivan has stepped in to coach this jumps squad this year and his coaching impact has been impressive!!
The Huskies will kick off their outdoor season next weekend in the Yellow Jacket Invite, hosted by Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Georgia on March 21st and March 22nd.
