Bueckers, Strong Named to Wooden Award Midseason Top 25
LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers and freshman Sarah Strong of the UConn women's basketball team were named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club Tuesday.
Bueckers leads the Huskies with 19.9 points per game and 60 assists. She has nine 20-point performances this season. One of the most efficient guards in the nation, Bueckers is shooting 55.9 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from three-point range this year. She ranks eighth nationally with a 3.16 assist-turnover ratio.
Bueckers won the 2021 Wooden Award as a freshman, and she was a 2024 Wooden Award All-American.
The No. 1-ranked recruit this season, Strong has been a force for the Huskies. She has scored in double digits in each game and has six 20-point games and three double-doubles. Strong leads UConn in rebounding, blocks and steals and is second in scoring.
Strong is the only freshman on the Wooden midseason top 25.
UConn is one of five programs with multiple players on the midseason list.
UConn returns to the XL Center next Wednesday to host Xavier (5-9, 0-3) at 7:30 p.m. The Huskies will celebrate Pride Night to honor the LGBTQ+ community. Tickets are available HERE.
