HookC Returns Home For Pair Of Midweeks

STORRS, Conn. - Riding a nation-best 13-game win streak, the UConn baseball team (26-17) hosts a pair of midweek contests at Elliot Ballpark. On Tuesday, April 29 the Huskies welcome Rutgers for a 5:05 p.m. start on CBS Sports Network and MIXLR. On Wednesday, April 30 the first place Rhode Island Rams come to Storrs for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch on UConn+.

UConn is coming off a three-game road series sweep in the BIG EAST Conference against St. John's. The Huskies scored 44 runs against the Johnnies and moved to 11-4 in BIG EAST play.

Tyler Minick is tied for the BIG EAST Conference lead with 15 home runs and has homered in three-straight contest. This streak coming right after Ryan Daniels four-game home run stretch came to an end this weekend. Daniels was named the BIG EAST Player after going 10-21 at the plate last week with 11 RBI, 10 runs scored, three doubles and four home runs. He also walked five times and stole four bases.

The Huskies and Scarlet Knights meet for the third-straight season after UConn swept the series in Storrs in 2023 and Rutgers took the series in Piscataway last season. UConn is 35-36 all-time against Rutgers.

Rutgers is 20-24 on the year with a 9-12 mark in the Big Ten Conference. Trevor Cohen paces the offense with a .370 average while Ty Doucette leads the team with nine home runs.

The Rams enter Wednesday's game 27-17 and are tied for first place in the A-10 with a 14-7 record. Jack Hopko is tied for the national lead with 69 runs batted in while Anthony DePino is the team team leader in home runs with 14. UConn leads the all-time series 122-69-5 but lost last year's meeting in Kingston, R.I., 4-1.
