Huskies Fall to Northeastern
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 10 ranked UConn women's hockey team lost 1-0 to the Northeastern Huskies on Friday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum.
Senior goaltender Tia Chan made her sixth start of the season in net for the Huskies, making 34 saves in the game.
Both teams had chances to open the scoring in the first period, as UConn and Northeastern both had power play opportunities that came to no avail. Northeastern led in shots 11-6 going into the first intermission.
The game remained scoreless in the second period as Northeastern outshot UConn 15-3 in the second frame.
Northeastern found a game winner in the third period off the stick of Lily Shannon, her third of the season.
UConn continued to push for an equalizer but Northeastern goaltender Lisa Jönsson was up for the task, shutting out the Huskies for just the second time this season.
