Huskies Set for a Pair of Hockey East Matchups

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team is set for two Hockey East matchups this weekend. The action begins on Friday, February 7 as the Huskies head to Boston University for a 6:00pm puck drop on ESPN+. UConn will return home to the Toscano Family Ice Forum on Saturday, February 8, as the Huskies will welcome the Holy Cross Crusaders to Storrs. The game will be televised on NESN. TICKETS

UConn (17-9-2) is currently in second place in the Hockey East standings on 46 points, four points behind first place Boston University with six games remaining in the regular season schedule. The Huskies are coming off their first loss since November 29, falling to No. 13 Northeastern in overtime, 4-3. 

UConn's blue line has led the way this season, as the Huskies have only conceded 47 goals (1.67 per game) this season, ranking atop the conference. Led by top line defenders Ava Rinker (Elverson, Pa.) and Meghane Duchesne-Chalifoux (Montreal, Quebec), the Huskies lead the conference in scoring defense (1.68) and rank 5th nationally in the category.

Scouting Boston University:

Boston University (19-8-1) are coming into Friday's game riding a five game winning streak. The Terriers are currently in first place in the Hockey East standings with a 16-4-1 conference record. BU is coached by Tara Watchorn in her second season. The Terriers are led by junior forward Sydney Healey who leads the team with 11 goals this season. The Huskies won all three games against the Terriers a season ago for just the second time in program history.  BU leads the all-time series 31-18-9. 

Scouting Holy Cross:

Holy Cross (8-16-3) is coming off a 1-0 overtime win over Maine last weekend. Since the last meeting between these two programs on November 2, the Crusaders have had a tough stretch going 4-11-2 with seven one score games during that stretch. Holy Cross is coached by Katie Lachapelle in her sixth season. The Crusaders are led by sophomore forward Emily Crovo with a team high 16 points this season. UConn won both games against Holy Cross back in November and will look to take all nine points from the Crusaders for a second consecutive season.
