HookC Play Three-Game Set at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The UConn baseball team (0-3) will look to bounce back from a tough Puerto Rico Challenge with a three-game series at Florida Atlantic (3-0) beginning on Friday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. Game two is set for 4 p.m. and the series finale is Sunday at 12 p.m. All three games will be stream on FAUSports.com and audio stream can be found on MIXLR.
Offensively, the Huskies did score 19 runs on the weekend (6.33 per game) the most in a three-game opening weekend since 2018. Unfortunately, UConn pitching and defense gave up 28 runs with 14 of those runs scoring courtesy of a walk, hit by pitch or error.
Grant MacArthur led the UConn offense with six hits (.462 AVG) with three RBI in his first weekend as a Husky. Ryan Daniels went 5-11 (.455) with a team-best four runs batted in, hit the Huskies only home run of the weekend and scored a pair of runs. Outfield Sam Biller (.364) and Rob Rispoli (.364) both went 4-11 with Biller going a perfect 3-3 on the base paths while Rispoli added a pair of stolen bags. Overall, the Huskies were 7-9 on the bases on opening weekend.
On the mound, LHP Oliver Pudvar had quite the debut for the Huskies. The Manhattan College transfer pitched 3.1 shutout innings without allowing a hit. LHP Charlie West also had a great start to 2025 with 2.0 shutout innings that featured four strikeouts.
The UConn offense will receive a boost with third baseman Tyler Minick returning the the lineup after missing opening weekend after being hit in the face by a pitch during the preseason.
The Huskies make their fourth trip to FAU with series against the Owls in 2006, 2015 and 2023. UConn swept the series in 2023 while the Owls swept UConn in 2015. Overall, the Huskies are 5-4 against FAU. Bryan Padilla, Matt Garbowski, Brady Afthim, Ian Cooke, Tommy Ellisen and Jude Abbadessa all appeared in the series in 2023.
