Fudd Leads No. 7 Huskies Past Georgetown
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 21 points as the No. 7 UConn women's basketball team (15-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) beat Georgetown (8-8, 1-4), 73-55, Saturday afternoon in the Entertainment & Sports Arena.
A native of nearby Arlington, Va., Fudd shot 8-13 from the floor and had five three pointers in her second straight 20-point game.
Freshman Sarah Strong continued to do a little bit of everything, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals. Strong has scored in double digits in all 17 games this season.
The Huskies had a slow start, training 18-17 at the end of the first quarter. After pulling ahead in the second, UConn outscored Georgetown 36-22 in the second half. Fudd scored 12 points in the second half and went t4-6 from three.
Sophomore Ashlynn Shade and freshman Morgan Cheli each had seven rebounds, both season highs. Shade also finished with 12 points and two blocks.
Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy set a personal best with four blocks.
UConn is back on the road at St. John's (11-5, 1-4) next Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SNY.
