Huskies Travel to DePaul
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team heads to the windy city this weekend for a three-game series with the DePaul Blue Demons. The series will begin Friday, April 18 with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00pm EST with the second game to follow, tentatively slated for 4:30pm EST. The series finale will be on Saturday, April 19 at 12:00pm EST. All three games will be streamed on FloSports.
UConn (25-14) is riding a three-game winning streak coming into the weekend and are 6-2 in the month of April. The Huskies are currently in second place in the BIG EAST standings with a 11-4 conference record.
Midway through April, the Huskies have scored 79 runs in eight games, outscoring opponents, 79-35. In those eight games, UConn has 18 home runs, and 27 doubles, posting a collective .391 batting average and .699 slugging percentage. Junior catcher Grace Jenkins has been swinging a hot bat at the top of the Huskies lineup in April with six home runs, 6 doubles, and 16 RBI at the midway point of the month. Corner outfielders Lexi Hastings and Kaitlyn Breslin have also had hot starts in April, as both players are batting above .500 and have combined for 25 of UConn's 75 RBIs this month.
Scouting DePaul (14-24, 1-14 BIG EAST)
The DePaul Blue Demons are coming off a midweek win over UIC, 11-3, snapping a seven game skid. The Blue Demons are coached by Liz Bouck-Jagielski in her first season. Last season, UConn swept DePaul in the season series. DePaul leads the all-time series 17-14.
