STORRS, Conn. – Six University of Connecticut athletics teams posted a perfect 1000 multi-year Academic Progress Rate, while nine teams sported perfect 1000 APR scores for the 2023-24 academic year, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday.
Four-year multi-year scores include data from the 2020-21 academic year through 2023-24. UConn's overall institutional APR for the 2023-24 academic year stood at 985.
Teams that posted perfect multi-year APR scores were men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
The nine teams that recorded perfect 1000 single-year APR scores in 2023-24 were: men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, softball, women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
"The NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate report reflects the extraordinary commitment to academic excellence that helps define UConn Athletics," commented Director of Athletics David Benedict. "Our student-athletes continue to set the standard for what it means to be true scholar-athletes. These achievements aren't accidental—they represent countless hours of dedication from our student-athletes, the unwavering support of our academic services staff, and the commitment of our coaches who understand that success in the classroom is just as important as success in competition."
16 squads posted multi-year APR scores of 980 or better.
Individual Team scores can be found on the NCAA Website
Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a simple and consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for staying on course for a degree in their chosen major and 1 point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletics scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
