Edwards, Mühl Selected in 2024 WNBA Draft
NEW YORK – UConn women's basketball seniors Aaliyah Edwards and Nika Mühl were selected in the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday evening at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Edwards was selected with the No. 6 overall pick by the Washington Mystics. She is UConn's 27th first-round selection in the league's history.
Mühl was picked at No. 14 overall by the Seattle Storm. She is UConn's 15th second-round selection in the WNBA Draft.
UConn has had 47 WNBA college draft selections since the league's inception in 1997. This is the 16th time multiple Huskies have been picked in the same draft.
Edwards joins UConn alumna Stefanie Dolson '14 in the Mystics organization.
WNBA training camp begins April 28. The 2024 WNBA season officially begins May 14.
In their four seasons in Storrs, Edwards and Mühl helped lead UConn to three Final Four appearances, a National Championship game appearance and eight BIG EAST championships.
Edwards compiled 1,861 points and 1,020 rebounds in her UConn career. She ranks 15th in the UConn record books in career points, eighth in career rebounds and sixth in career double-doubles (35). She was just the sixth Husky all-time to reach 1,800 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Edwards was selected as a 2024 WBCA All-American and unanimously All-BIG EAST. She was the 2023 BIG EAST Most Improved Player and 2021 BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Edwards will graduate with a bachelor's degree in communication in May.
Mühl holds UConn's career (686), single-season (284) and single-game (15) assist records. She recorded double-digit assists in 17 games, the most for a Husky. Mühl also compiled 764 points and 453 rebounds at UConn.
Mühl is a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. She was also twice named an AP Honorable Mention All-American and All-BIG EAST Second Team.
A native of Zagreb, Croatia, Mühl will graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychological sciences in May.
