No. 4 Huskies Ready for No. 5 Creighton in BIG EAST Quarterfinals
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team is set to face No. 5 seeded Creighton in the BIG EAST quarterfinals at the BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by JEEP in Cayce, S.C., on Friday, April 19.
Entering the matchup, the Huskies are the fourth seed as they ended the regular season with a 12-7 overall record and a 4-3 BIG EAST record. Leading the way in the regular season was junior Maria Constantinou. Constantinou finished the season with a 12-5 singles record at the second singles position and 10-4 doubles record with teammate Olivia Wright. Constantinou also was awarded conference singles player of the week and doubles team of the week with Wright.
Scouting Creighton
Heading into the matchup, the Bluejays are 14-6 overall and 2-2 in BIG EAST action as the fifth seed in the championships. Leading the way for the Bluejays is Annika Elvestrom playing at the fifth and sixth singles spots and boasting a 14-6 singles record.
The Huskies did not face Creighton in the regular season. Last season, UConn took on the Bluejays twice, once in the regular season and once in the postseason. The Huskies are 0-2 all-time against them.
